“Deep ecology looks at the spiritual disease that underlies the environmental crisis: the illusion of separation between humans and the rest of the natural world… In order to nourish our ecological identity, Naess called for the development of community therapies “which heal our relations with the widest community, that of all living beings.” — John Seed
About this website
March 10, 2022The Deep Ecology.net website is intended as a living library of resources relating to the Deep Ecology movement, its philosophy, science, poetry, and practice. At the heart of the site are profiles, quotes and suggested further readings (books, essays, articles) from key thinkers in each of these domains.
We also offer material relating to the therapeutic group processes known as “Council of All Beings”, “Deep Ecology” workshops, and “The Work That Reconnects”. Suggested by Arne Naess, and pioneered by John Seed, the late Joanna Macy, Pat Fleming, Ruth Rosenhek, Eshana Bragg, and many others over the last four decades, these workshops combine philosophy, science poetry and practice of deep ecology into transformative group experiences. For information about such workshops, please visit our community portal
This website grew out of a covid-era collaboration between a group of Deep Ecology facilitators to create a series of online offerings. While the “Deep Ecology Online” Course has currently been retired in favour of face-to face workshops and regular online meetings, it may yet return. Please contact us for more information.
This site is not intended to be authoritative, exhaustive or encyclopaedic, but it is constantly growing, and we hope it will provide resources and inspiration for the growth and flourishing of the global Deep Ecology movement.
